Movie Morning with Some Students

Two days in a row of fun school activities and it's only getting more fun with Spirit Week next week!

These days field trips are so much work and so much money that it's very difficult to take classes of almost 30 kids anywhere during the school day.  So I have a new plan...instead of a weekday trip we took a Saturday trip.  All of the stress of planning, collecting money, and transporting children was gone!

Here's how it worked: We had the parents meet us at the theater for the matinee time = no driving or busing kids. Parents did all the purchasing of tickets and snacks = no money collecting.  We allowed for some parents to drop and run, but most parents stayed and had family time with school friends.  All were picked up at the designated time and the teachers went out to lunch!

What more could you want in a field trip?  To make it even better the parents were all so happy to see that their child's teacher is willing to spend a Saturday with them :P

This trip was so successful for all who went and the ones who couldn't come this time will really want to come next time!

Where should we go next?!

Shall we dance?

School dances at elementary schools...what do you think?  The kids are so small and so shy, but would they push the limits?

Some 6th graders near the end.
This afternoon my school hosts one of it's school dances.  I always thought it was too loud, too stinky, and definitely not very fun for those young students.  It's only for the "good kids" who got to go by getting their teachers to sign off on their permission slips.  And it was only for our "bigger kids" which included the 3rd through 6th graders, none of my little 2nd graders could go :(

Our Rockin D.J.'s (aka Tech Support and Interventionist)

As a teacher that is up for anything at the school this was an event I had to partake in.  I was thinking maybe stay for a half hour, pretend to be helpful then sneak out.  Too bad helping out really meant be a party motivator, and I LOVE being a party motivator :) I could have danced all night!

Large group at the end when the lights were back on.
The best part is the student council took care of the set-up, clean-up, tickets, entry stamps, and selling snacks.  As it turns out this school event was a great reward for the fun teachers, and it was nice to have some fun with the responsible kids too.   So I say, let's dance!

Me after dancing...so sweaty!
