Rewarding Students - cooking, lunch, cushions, art

What elementary school kids don't love to spend extra time with their teacher? Mine all LOVE it so I use it as a reward. After earning sticker on an extended behavior sticker chart (mines a race track to match my behavior system) students got to scratch a card to see their prize.

After the card reveals their reward they can choose when to "cash it in". Here is cooking activity #1: Making Cheerio Crispy Treats

1 Spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.

2 In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter and marshmallows uncovered on High about 2 minutes, stirring after each minute, until mixture is smooth. With pot holders, remove bowl from microwave.

3 Immediately stir in cereal until evenly coated. Press mixture evenly into pan using buttered back of spoon. Cool at least 10 minutes.

4 With table knife, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store in a loosely covered container.

Another microwave treat!

I made it with water since I didnt have milk and it was still delicious! I also had some toppings for the kids to add in including chocolate chips, blueberries, and sprinkle.

HELP! Go Fund Me

I am what I teach, are you? I am a second grade teacher that's always looking for new ideas and tries to make school fun. I, like my students, enjoy laughing, learning, and making new friends. A teacher's job is never as easy as just going to work, it's a lifestyle to do this job professionally.

I am looking to share my ideas in new ways by producing clothing, accessories, teaching tools, and many more fun ideas. In order to do this on a teaching salary I need lots of help!

Tucson Festival of Books

The Tuscon Festival of Books has just completed it's 7th annual event. I have been to 5 of the 7 years and I just love how this festival is evolving including getting more authors from around the world!

More about the festival shortly, first I want to thank the children's authors who come to town and do school/classroom visits. My school librarian invited Diane White, to talk about her newest book Blue on Blue. She talked about how authors write and the publishing process and ended with reading her book.

Now for the FESTIVAL

I signed up to volunteer this year in an author presentation sessions, and here's who I helped on Day 2 of the Festival:

After volunteering from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm I was ready to walk around the tents! It was a beautiful 78 degrees but a little windy as you will see in a couple pictures.
